The Town of Brookline is looking for a dynamic Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to lead purchasing operations for both the Town and Public Schools. This is a high-impact leadership role where your work will directly support vital community services while upholding the highest standards of efficiency, ethics, and fiscal responsibility.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, the CPO manages a team of three and oversees the full procurement lifecycle—from developing bids and RFPs to negotiating contracts and evaluating vendor performance. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with Massachusetts General Laws (Chapter 30B), supporting Town committees, and driving innovation in purchasing practices across departments.
What We’re Looking For
We're seeking an experienced procurement professional who is ready to lead with vision and integrity. Ideal candidates will bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible procurement experience
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience
- In-depth knowledge of Massachusetts procurement law
- Clear, persuasive communication and excellent negotiation skills
- A commitment to service, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- CPM or CPPO certification (or willingness to obtain)
Work Environment
This is a full-time, office-based position with occasional evening meetings. You’ll engage regularly with departments, vendors, and the public—balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced municipal environment.
