SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER - Planning, developing and coordinating fiscal, business, and operating services required to provide school personnel with facilities, materials, and other resources needed to support vocational and academic instruction of students. Major Responsibilities: Assist the Superintendent-Director in the development, preparation, presentation, and approval of the annual budget. Establish and maintain adequate systems to control the approved budget. Provide the Superintendent-Director and other Administrators with appropriate financial data. Supervise the preparation of school financial reporting activities. Be designated as the Chief Procurement Officer under the provisions of MGL Chapter 30B and comply with the law and all regulations pertaining to the procurement of good and services and disposal of surplus property. Be responsible for the certification of all accounts payable and prompt payment. Manage all district funds to include but not limited to the general fund, grants, activity accounts, revolving funds, trust funds, reserve funds, capital project funds. Supervise the deposit of funds into correct accounts, and supervise the billing and collection of accounts receivable. Supervise the expenditures and record keeping for federal, state, and private grants. Administer the contracted transportation program for the District. Administer, through the Transportation Coordinator, the In-House Transportation program. Manage, supervise and evaluate the Business Office staff. Administer, through the Food Service Manager, the Food Service Program.
Administer, through the Technology Coordinator, all data processing services and equipment. Administer, through the Director of Facility and Grounds, the care and maintenance of school grounds, facilities, and equipment. Develop and administer the insurance programs and procure bonds for staff. Maintain equipment inventory and serve as equipment coordinator. Administer equipment depreciation schedules. Maintain and supervise service contracts. Develop and maintain supply inventories. Administer building security systems. Recommend to the Superintendent-Director alterations and changes to the physical plant and grounds and provide budget estimates. Supervise construction and renovation projects. Administer the rental of the plant and grounds, and the acquisition, use and maintenance of school vehicles. Supervise the acquisition of state or federal surplus property. Perform all other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.
