    The Town of Wellesley is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to fill the position of Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for safeguarding the financial assets of the Town in accordance with the Town’s investment policy, overseeing the day-to-day administration of the Town's payroll system, accounts payable system and general ledger, maintaining all fund accounts, monitoring expenditures, and coordinating the annual budget process. The incumbent will recommend and implement procedures for processing financial transactions, establish associated financial controls, oversee the preparation of all required financial reports and documents and supervise the financial office staff. Additionally, the incumbent serves as ex officio to the Wellesley Retirement Board which oversees the Wellesley Contributory Retirement System and is responsible for approving the assumed actuarial rate of return on investments, managing the system, and maintaining the post employment health care benefits for certain retirees. Lastly this position ensures that all Town service and purchasing contracts are maintained in compliance with applicable laws and coordinates external and internal audits.

    Minimum qualifications include: Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or CPA; minimum 10 years full-time accounting experience; 10 years of supervisory experience in organization(s) with annual revenues of at least $100 million; UMAS Certification or the ability to achieve within a year; broad knowledge of applicable Federal and state laws; codes and regulations; proficiency in the use of spreadsheet applications, databases, and automated financial systems; familiarity with cyber risks and security concerns, have experience with and be comfortable with public speaking, presenting to audiences of all sizes in person, on Zoom and on public media channels; experience negotiating between parties to achieve a desirable budget outcome with limited resources, the ability to prioritize projects based on set criteria; and the ability to exercise significant independent judgment in the performance of its duties. Preferred: proficiency with MUNIS.

    Anticipated hiring range for this position is $120,300 - $165,000, DOQ, with excellent benefits. A complete job description is available upon request.
