Cohasset, MA (8,400 pop.), is seeking an experienced municipal finance leader to serve as its next Director of Finance/Town Accountant. Candidates should have exceptional financial acumen with municipal experience and strong leadership abilities. This position is responsible for the strategic management of the town’s municipal finances. Also responsible for the proper recording and maintenance of financial records, approving all payments, monitoring expenditures of all town funds, auditing financial records and transactions, and establishing and implementing fiscal policies and procedures, including short- and long-range projections on operating and capital budgets and related financing. Cohasset is located about 20 miles southeast of Boston. A principally residential community, the Town has a AAA rating and strong finances. Cohasset has a five-member Select Board, an Open Town Meeting form of government, and an FY22 overall spending plan of $50.46 million. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree and over 5-7 years of experience, preferably in a municipal accounting office or a private audit firm with direct responsibility for municipal audits. Solid working knowledge of municipal accounting functions is required. CPA preferred. Annual salary: $120K+, DOQ. AA/EOE.
