Bellingham, MA (17,000 pop.), is seeking a new Chief Financial Officer to lead the town’s financial management, who will be supported by a Deputy Town Accountant. A historic and primarily residential community with an AA+ rating, Bellingham is located on the Rhode Island border. Led by a five-member Selectboard with open Town Meeting, Bellingham has an FY24 budget of $73.18M andis a welcoming, affordable, and family friendly community. Candidates must have exceptional financial acumen and strong leadership abilities; must have a working knowledge of UMAS structure and all DLS required reporting, including tax recapitulation; and is responsible for the strategic management of the town’s municipal finances. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in accounting, business administration, or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience in municipal finances, or comparable education and experience. CGA and MCPPO preferred but not required. Accredited as an accountant; thorough knowledge of fiscal planning and governmental fund accounting principles and practices; thorough knowledge of auditing, borrowing and cash management practices; ability to work well with board members in all committees.
