Yarmouth, MA (25,023 pop.), is seeking an experienced municipal finance leader to serve as its next Director of Finance. Candidates should have exceptional financial acumen and strong leadership abilities. This position is responsible for the strategic management of the town’s municipal finances. The Director oversees the Finance Department including the Divisions of Accounting, Assessing, Clerk, Collection, and Treasury as well as payroll. Examples of responsibilities include: the proper recording and maintenance of financial records, evaluating financial software applications; creating custom reports including cost/benefit analyses and rate studies; directing cash management of all Town funds; developing short- and long-range investment and borrowing strategies and cash flow planning; coordinating the operation of all offices in the Finance Department; and establishing and implementing fiscal policies and procedures. Located in the middle of Cape Cod, Yarmouth is primarily a residential community with both year-round and seasonal residents. The Town has an AA+ rating and a reputation for excellent financial management. Yarmouth has a five-member Board of Selectmen, Open Town Meeting, and an FY23 total budget of $116.25 million. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related degree and 10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management, with experience in municipal accounting preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
