The Town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the FT position of Asst. Town Accountant/Assistant Finance Director. Responsibilities include performing a variety of accounting duties including: assisting in preparation & development of the Town’s budget; monitoring & analysis of department accounts; expenditures versus budget; accounts payable; posting to General Ledger; preparing Trial Balances; and other similar accounting duties necessary to the functions of the department. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, three to five years exp. in the acct. field, preferably local govt. Knowledge base should include generally accepted accounting principals, auditing principals, practices and procedures, financial forecasting, GASB promulgations and MA. General Laws related to municipal finance. A certification in governmental accounting & knowledge of MUNIS financial software a plus. Ability to manage multiple project assignments under occasional time constraints. Ability to interact with people effectively & appropriately. Work efficiently with minimal direction & supervision with the ability to direct the work of professionals, non-professional & volunteers. Strong organization & excel computer skills with excellent written & oral skills. Salary range $47,327 - $53, 927 DOE/DOQ; Excellent benefits.
