    Sharon, MA is located 22 miles midway between Boston and Providence, it has access to Boston and Providence via MBTA commuter trains, and to New York City and Washington, D.C., via Amtrak trains at nearby Route 128 station. Its population of 18,000--32 percent are children under 19, 56 percent are adults 25-64 years, and 10 percent are seniors over 65--lives mostly in single-family houses ranging from relatively modest ranches to luxury properties. Many town residents have second- and third-generation family roots in Sharon, but the town is also notable for its diversity and openness to newcomers. An Interfaith Clergy Council and an "Affirming Diversity" group foster cooperative understanding among several varieties of Christian and Jewish congregations, an Islamic mosque, and a Unitarian church as well as adherents of Eastern religions, and the group sponsors an annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration.

    The Sharon School Department oversees a high school, a middle school, and three elementary schools, all of which are committed to excellence in educating students. Sharon High School sends 96% of its graduating seniors on to institutions of higher learning.

    The Sharon Public Schools, in partnership with the community, has as its mission the responsibility to prepare students to live in a rapidly changing society.     Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
    2. Massachusetts certification as a School Business Administrator
    3. Three year experience as a supervisor in a school environment
    4. Knowledge of procurement, including but not limited to Chapter 30B and Chapter 149; MCPPO designation, preferred
    5. Familiarity with state and federal grants and grant management;
    6. Advanced proficiency in business software including MUNIS, Excel, and Google Docs

      Reports to: Superintendent of Schools

      Job Goal: To administer the business affairs of the Schools in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available.

      Responsibilities:
      1. Directs, supervises and evaluated all business office staff including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable,
      2. Procurement, Grants Management and Personnel/ Human Resources operations
      3. Supports the Director of Food Services and Transportation
      4. Supervises and maintains the accounting, financial and budget control system for all school department funds
      5. Manages and audits the purchasing process and services for equipment and services bought, leased, or otherwise acquired by the Sharon Public Schools
      6. Supervises and prepares as needed for all reports requested by state or federal agencies
      7. Maintains and reports to the Superintendent of Schools, up-to-date budget balances on appropriate line items and special accounts
      8. Assists the Superintendent of Schools in preparation of the annual budget, budget presentations and completes statistical data as requested
      9. Coordinates all business office operations with other town and state departments.
      10. Updates Financial Procedures documents
      11. Ensures that bidding and contractor procedures are handled correctly
      12. Advises the Superintendent of Schools on all matters relating to the business and financial affairs of the district
      13. Assists in negotiations as needed
      14. Attends any School Committee meetings and other pertinent meetings as requested by the Superintendent of Schools
      15. Performs such other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools

        Evaluation: In accordance with the school department’s policy on Evaluation of School Administrators.

        Salary: Negotiable

        Terms of Employment: Twelve Month year
