    The Town of Stoneham (Pop. 22,000), a desirable and fiscally sound community, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Accountant. The Town Accountant works under the general supervision of the Stoneham Select Board.  Stoneham is an equal opportunity employer.     The Town Accountant performs highly critical functions of a complex and technical nature that require significant ethical and professional judgment to ensure that all municipal financial transactions conform to state and municipal law and to professional standards.  The ideal candidate will possess the ability to formulate and execute decisions regarding policies, procedures, operations and plans at the department level.  Education requirements include a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (Masters or CPA preferred) with 5-7 years in municipal government accounting/finance desired. Munis experience is preferred. Massachusetts Governmental Accounting Certificate preferred. Salary $105,000-$130,000 negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
