    Under general supervision of the Retirement Administrator the Retirement Department Specialist maintains an accurate retiree payroll database, assists in coordinating enrollments and participates in active membership and maintenance of an annuity database. The Retirement Department Specialist also provides information and general benefit guidance to members in accordance with M.G.L Chapter 32 and Needham Retirement Supplemental Regulations.

    Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

    • Assist in the preparation and generation of monthly payroll for retirees, ensuring accuracy of relevant benefits and withholdings
    • Ensure accuracy of active members’ retirement payroll deductions
    • Respond to member inquires and provide general guidance regarding benefits; assist in accurately completing Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) required forms
    • Transmit direct deposit file and verify acceptance by financial institution; make necessary direct deposit account changes upon notification from banks
    •   Prepare monthly vendor warrant and produce various checks and reports for Treasurers office
    • Create disability records from relevant applications submitting to Board Counsel for review
    • Calculate and update annuity information regarding make-ups, buybacks, and transfers to and from systems


    To be considered for the position, applicants must have at least:

    • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
    • Familiarity with M.G.L Chapter 32
    • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience with Pension Technology Group software (PTG) 
    • Proficiency in MS Office suite, with advanced skills in MS Excel
    • Exceptional customer service skills 

    Position:                              Full Time 
    Hourly Salary Range:         $24.27 - $28.15
